Some say that the entrepreneurial spirit is a gift from our parents, and for Martha that’s just the case! Taking after her mother, owner of Cotton Patch for over 30 years, and her great grandparents who owned Carson Pirie Scott, a department store in Chicago.
Martha is taking her own crack at the boutique business. Although a little nervous, Martha says, “I have such a strong support system to get me through.”
For Martha, the motivation is connecting with others. “I love getting to know visitors of our great city, my fellow Lexingtonians or even someone who just needs a little retail therapy,” she explained. “Lexington has a thriving shop local initiative and I am very excited to contribute to that.” Pirie opened in February 2017.
